Family Support and Policy
Extension programs focus on healthy and developmentally appropriate parenting and child care and youth development, as well as elder care issues. The particular needs of grandparents serving as parents are addressed in a special project, "Parenting A Second Time Around."

Home
Environmental hazards in work environments and homes - such as radon and lead - and the quality of home water supplies and septic systems affect health. Homeowners and renters benefit from learning practical strategies and science-based information to alleviate hazards in and around the home.

Youth Development
Many programs for youth have an emphasis on science exploration, skill building, community service, and promoting personal development. Research indicates that 4-H youth development progrms helps kids to do better in school, learn to help others, and feel more capable and responsible.
