NYS 4-H Forestry Information Page
State-Wide Youth Opportunties
NYS 4-H Forestry Weekend at the Arnot Forest in Schuyler County, May 16-18, 2008
- Get your youth ready now!
- Youth (as individuals or teams as many as you want from each county), ages 10-19
- For youth, but also a great opportunity for staff and volunteers to learn and have fun!
- For youth, but also a great opportunity for staff and volunteers to learn and have fun! We'd like each county sending youth to also send or arrange for chaperones for them, we're also looking for volunteers to help.
- Saturday is learning and fun, Sunday is the competition. All are welcome to compete, regardless of age!
- All attendees between the ages of 14-19 can compete to be on the NYS Forestry Team that goes to the National 4-H Forestry Invitational in West Virginia July 20-24
- The Arnot weekend activities include:
- Tree identification
- Tree measurements
- Compass usage
- Map reading
- Insects and diseases
- Outdoor cookery
- Nature games
- Night hikes and more
o Cost $25 per person: includes food, materials, and cabin lodging. (A $95 value!). Space is limited, so register now!- Registration and Flier
