CORNELL RESOURCES


Cornell Manure Management Program
The Cornell Manure Management Program is located in the Department of Animal Science within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Its goal is to disseminate cutting edge information on manure treatment and management technologies which reduce the impact on the environment.

Nutrient Management SPEAR Program (SPEAR)
SPEAR is located in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and works to aid in on-farm implementation of strategies for field crop nutrient management to improve the profitability and competitiveness of NYS farms while protecting the environment.

Cornell Nutrient Analysis Lab (CNAL)
CNAL
is a laboratory in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences that provides accurate and cost-effective analysis of soil, plant and water samples for farmers, growers, Extension educators, state/federal agencies, regulators, home gardeners and other interested parties.

Environmental and Nutrient Management on Dairy Farms
Resources for dairy farmers through the PRO-DAIRY program, located in the Department of Animal Science within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, that address nutrient management issues and practices.

Manure Spill Response and Prevention
A collection of resources that address issues involved with liquid manure storage facilities in the event of a compromise that result in a spill.

Precision Agriculture
Cornell Precision Agriculture is located in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It provides recommendations based on research for more profitable and environmentally compatible farming.

Soil Health
This Department of Crop and Soil Sciences program studies the integration of biological with chemical and physical measures of soil quality that affects farm profits and the environment.

Cornell Waste Management Institute (CWMI)
Located in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, CWMI provides resources on small and large scale composting and farm waste management.

Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP)
CNMP is a conservation plan, unique to animal feeding operations which provides the foundation for controlling potential water pollution associated with Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). A CNMP is required for farms seeking federal/state cost-sharing to construct manure storage facilities.
