Eat
Smart New York
is a free nutrition education program for food
stamp recipients. It is a voluntary program
where you can learn about nutrition, health,
food shopping, low cost meal planning, cooking,
and safe food preparation and storage.
What
will we do together?
You and your educator will plan hands-on activities,
based on your interests and needs that will
help you eat healthier.

It is a fun, easy way to learn skills to help
prepare programs for kidsand volunteers. And
it's FREE! All you need to do is want to learn.
Who
can participate?
Any adult, including senior citiznes, who is
receiving food stamps or who is trying to live
on a limited income.
Where
will the lessons be held?
Right in your own home, one on one, at your
convenience or as a small group at a church,
community center or at the Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Steuben County office.
Nutrition
Program
You will work with trained nutrition program
educators who are supervised by a Family and
Consumer Educator. These educators receive ongoing
training in current nutrition research, and
are eager to help you meet your nutritional
needs.
