Stakeholder involvement is fundamental to all aspects of Cornell Cooperative Extension’s work in New York State. Volunteer Boards of Directors provide governance for local and regional Cooperative Extension Associations, with oversight from Cornell.
Members of local Boards are charged with representing the interests of all citizens who might benefit from the work of Extension in that area. They are nominated and elected in an open, democratic process for term-limited service.
Like other community-based organizations, CCE Board members have fiduciary responsibility for the Extension Association, and they:
· set organizational and program direction
· engage in strategic planning
· ensure necessary resources
· employ and supervise an Executive Director
· provide oversight
· set local policy
