Cornell University Applied Research and Extension Program Council
CCE Program Council provides input to the directors of Cornell Cooperative Extension and the two agricultural experiment stations and set policy directives for research and extension funding for the state of New York. For additional context, see Program Council Background and History.
The Program Council includes approximately 40 members who represent a broad spectrum of interests and expertise. About half of the council is made up of external stakeholders who are a critical link between our academic community and the world at large. The remaining members are split between Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Directors and campus based faculty. The Council serves a key role in helping to identify emerging trends, challenges and opportunities across a range of social, economic and environmental issues.
Program Council provides input into funding decision for programs. Our overall portfolio of Federal Formula Funds (FFF) is about $7.2 million and our projects range from developing new crop varieties, combating childhood obesity, energy conservation, and enhancing rural economic development, to addressing environmental issues such as water quality and invasive species. We receive our funding through the US Department of Agriculture and are guided by federal policy and by National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) priorities.

Program Work Teams
Program Work Teams (PWT's) are affinity groups involving faculty and staff, extension educators, and external stakeholders. PWT's provide a mechanism through which faculty and extension educators connect with stakeholders in identifying issues, studying needs, creating educational materials, and designing learning experiences that address these issues and needs within specific content areas.
