The invasive
Hemlock Woolly Adelgid has been confirmed, for the second time in
a decade, in the Rochester area. The insect was first collected
in the Rochester area in 1999 and the infested plants were rouged
shortly thereafter. Site monitoring indicates the insect was eliminated
from the County at that time. Both that infestation and the current
one were likely introduced with hemlock brought from nurseries where
