to the Lake Plains
4-H Youth Development Program!
We support regional 4-H efforts as a part of the Lake Plains 4-H Program. Both Monroe and Wayne counties share expertise across county lines. By utilizing the strengths and capacities of each county 4-H program, youth audiences and their families will have greater accessibility to 4-H program opportunities throughout the Wayne and Monroe County Regions.
By offering "learn-by-doing" projects and activities, youth explore a broad spectrum of interests in 4-H that include Agriculture & Farming, Environmental Conservation & Science, Youth Community Action/Community Service, Communication & Public Speaking, Plants and Animals, and Science & Technology.
On October 15-17, 2008 Rochester was host to the Statewide professional development conference for 4-H Educators. One hundred 4-H staff from around New York were able to see Monroe County it all its Autumn splendor. Legislators Harry Bronson and Robert Colby and Bill Wynne, Interim Executive Director of the Monroe County CCE addressed the group on Thursday night at the awards dinner. It was a wonderful evening and we thank them for joining us.
There's even more news about Rochester. In 2009 we will host the National 4-H Educators Conference. On October 25-29 more than one-thousand 4-H educators will come to see all that Monroe County has to offer. We are honored that Rochester was chosen to host this important event. More information about this event will be available in March of 2009.
