12 -- Living With Your Teen:  Enjoying and surviving the challenge.  This series addresses the behavioral, developmental and emotional changes of families with preteens and young adolescents.  Beginning Friday, Sept. 12 and continuing Thurs., September 18th and 25th from 6 pm to 8 pm at Port Jervis Middle School, 118 East Main Street.  The cost is $30.00/family for the series. 

14 -- Using Hydrostackers to Grow Alpine and Day Neutral Strawberries.  4 pm at 3007 Route 20, Hudson, NY.  NYS DEC Pesticide Applicator recertification credits will be available.  There is no charge for this meeting, but please call Peggy at 518-828-3346 before September 15th to register.

22 -- Discipline is NOT a Dirty Word.  Most parents agree that getting their children to behave is both important and difficult.  This program series will help parents and caregivers learn and practice seven basic principles of positive and persuasive discipline.  This series will start Mon., Sept. 22, from 9:30-11:30 am and run for three weeks.  There is no cost for this program but you must register.  This program will be held at Port Jervis Head Start, 31 West Main Street, Port Jervis, NY.

26 -- 4-H Awards due to 4-H Office

ESNY (Eat Smart New York) and EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) nutrition classes are provided to families receiving or applying for food stamps or for limited resource families with young children.  Please call Darlene or Debbie to see if you qualify for either of these free programs.

Stepping Stones for School Success:  Getting Ready for Kindergarten:  This program offers a 2 session workshop series for parents of pre-school children from the Minisink, Pine Bush and /or Port Jervis school districts.  There is no charge for program as funding has been generously provided by the Partners for Children, Youth and Families Initiative. Call for specific site dates and times.

There is no charge for this program.  Childcare for younger family members is available with pre-registration.

24 -- Hudson Valley Regional Relatives as Parents Program will be hosting "We Are Family" a conference for relative caregivers providing primary care for related children and agency and community members serving this population.  The conference will be held at Hotel Thayer, West Point from 9 - 2:30.  For more information contact Brenda Reynolds.
