Program Offerings

Consumer Calls-
There are two nutrition educators on staff available to answer nutrition and food safety related questions from residents in Rensselaer County. If you have any questions you may give us a call at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Office.

Eat Smart New York (ESNY) -
This program is funded jointly by the New York State Department of the Office of Temporary Assistance and Disabilities through the Federal Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program. All residents in Rensselaer County who are Food Stamp eligible are welcome to apply for this program. Participants will learn how to budget their food dollars, plan nutritious meals for the whole family, and much more. Participants will be taught either one-on-one in the privacy of their own home with a Nutrition Program Educator or in a group setting with other participants in the community.

Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) -
This nutrition education program open to all low-income families with children in Rensselaer county. The focus of the program is to provide sound food budgeting principles develop nutritious menus that are economical and versatile and teaching food safety. Participants will be taught either one-on-one in the privacy of their own home with a Nutrition Program Educator or in a group setting with other participants in the community.
