Washington County CCE provides quality researched
parent education programs throughout the county.

We are certified by New York State to offer ParentsApart.

Our mission is to strengthen the relationships between
Parents and children by enhancing their communication skills,
Building assets and protecting self-esteem, understanding more
Effective non-violent discipline skills and creating an awareness
that they are not alone in their struggles with parenting.

To best meet the needs of all families classes are rotated and held throughout Washington County. Classes are held in Whitehall, Argyle, Salem, Cambridge and Fort Edward. If you are interested in a class being offered in your community, contact 746-2560.

Parent Education for the General Public
Each series of parent education classes run for five consecutive weeks. Classes meet once a week for two hours. The Facilitator is available before and after class for one on one discussion.

The five subject areas discussed come from researched parenting curriculums and include:

- Week one: IALAC (I Am Loveable And Capable) and encouragement
- Week two: Focus on "do's" instead of "don'ts"
- Week three: Choices and working with children instead of against them
- Week four: Give children safe limits and self-control
- Week five: Setting good examples and respecting feelings

These parenting classes are open to everyone in the general public and are at this time without cost.

Parenting A Second Time Around

PASTA is a six part educational workshop series focusing on:

4. Handling Discipline and Behavior
5. School Support and the Teen Years: How can we survive?
Or
Taking Care of Yourself: Emotional issues, stress, and support groups.
6. My Grandchildren's Parents: How can I help us all cope?
