News Releases: Washington County 4-H's Mike LeClair Selected to Attend the National 4-H Conference News Release Washington County 4-H's Mike LeClair Selected to Attend the National 4-H ConferenceThe National 4-H Convention is an annual event that is held at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland (just outside Washington D.C.). The event is open to five candidates from each state. The National Conference is used by the Secretary of Agriculture to determine youth input for guiding the 4-H Youth Development program at both a national and local level. New York chose five youth from their applicants to attend the National. Michael LeClair will join Kathryn Davis - Rensselaer County and Brian Driscoll - Saratoga County in a strong representation of the Capital District 4-H programs. The last Washington County member to be selected was in the late nineties. Michael earned his recommendation for this award program through his diverse interests and participation in programming. He has been active in 4-H Shooting Sports, horticulture, natural resources, and photography programming. He has also been active with Washington County 4-H Teen Council and the food booth, which the Council runs as its major fundraiser. Most recently, Michael was selected to work on the National 4-H website with youth from around the country. Michael's ability to interact with a wide variety of youth has made him a natural participant in Career Explorations at Cornell University and the STARRs program, a teen leadership program held at the NYS Fairgrounds. Congratulations Michael! If you would like more information about the National 4-H Conference or the Washington County 4-H program in general, please call John F. Bowe or Chyrs P.
