FREE CLASSES FOR GRANDPARENTS Parenting a Second Time Around

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Washington County will be offering a six-week Parenting Class beginning on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. Parenting a Second Time Around is a support program designed to assist grandparents or non-custodial caregivers who are raising grandchildren to cope with some of the issues they face in their role as caregiver in a multi-generation family.

The weekly topics include: Finding the Help You Need, Financial Assistance, Understanding Legal Issues, Discipline, School Support and Taking Care of Yourself, Dealing with Your Grandchildren's Parents.

Classes will meet monthly starting February 8, March 8, March 29, April 12, May 10, and June 14 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Classes are held at the Argyle Central School Library which is handicap accessible. You do not need to attend all the classes.

If you are interested call the Cornell Cooperative Extension Washington County office (746-2560 or 1-800-548-0881) to enroll; pre-registration is greatly appreciated. The class is limited to 18 parents, so call soon! This program was made possible with funding through Office for the Aging.
