4-H Mini-Projects Open to All Youth

The Washington County 4-H Leader's Association is working with the 4-H educators and volunteers to provide a series of mini-projects. The events will be held either in Kingsbury at the Parish House or in Salem at Proudfit Hall. Any youth of appropriate age is welcome to attend the programs. There is a $5 fee for non-4-H members to cover the cost of materials and supplies.

The programs will begin at the Kingsbury Parish House on Saturday, January 28, 2006 with Simple Fleece Hats. On February 4th, Orienteering and Natural Resources will be the project topic at Proudfit Hall in Salem, while Needle Felting is scheduled at the Kingsbury Parish Hall. On February 11th, Simple Fleece Hats will be taught in Salem, while Orienteering and Natural Resources will be taught in Kingsbury.

All programs are scheduled from 9AM until NOON. When you call to register please ask about the age limits of each class, as they may vary. The sewing of simple fleece hats will likely require that you bring a sewing machine, so that there is enough to go around. For the Orienteering and Natural Resources, you should wear warm clothing, winter coat, hat, gloves, and boots because some of the program will occur outside.

So if you are looking for something that your child can do on some winter weekends, call Cornell Cooperative Extension/4-H of Washington County to register (746-2560 or 1-800-548-0881).
