Why
Support CCE-Steuben?
Mission
· The Cornell Cooperative Extension educational system
enables people to improve their lives and communities through
partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work.
· Cooperative
Extension programs in every county of New York State are linked
back to our state’s land grant university, Cornell University.
Our educators tap into that expertise to help the citizens in
Steuben County make informed choices, develop character and competence
skills, improve health, become good stewards of our environment,
and strengthen our economy.
History
· Helping people lead quality lives has been our business
for 87 years in Steuben County. Having a college send agents out
into the fields to assist farmers in improving their crops was
a practical idea. It offered hands-on, state-of-the-art technology,
which produced immediate results. Its success spread to activities
for both the home and youth, and has evolved over the decades
to increasing needs of the citizens.
· Typically funded by federal, state and
county dollars, Cooperative Extension offices around the state
are struggling today to maintain quality programs and excellence
in research, information and expertise. These appropriations provide
a little more than half of CCE-Steuben’s budget. Additional
revenue comes from grants, contracts, program participation fees
and fundraising events. We need your private gifts to fill the
gap and continue providing resources for our community and developing
solutions for the growing problems of our society.
Solutions for the Future
· We are your “front door” to Cornell University
– the research, information and expertise to help you solve
problems and improve your quality of life. Whether the topic is
obesity, hogweed, or windmills, we offer resources.
Ways
to Give
Every gift, regardless of size, makes a difference
to Cooperative Extension of Steuben County. You may have benefited
from the services we have to offer and wish to make sure others
have access to the same resources. You may have noticed the needs
in Steuben County and believe in our ability to develop local
leaders, build partnerships and empower individuals and enterprises.
Your dollars ensure that our programs enhance Steuben County.
Select a specific beneficiary program or allow us to put the dollars
to work where it is most needed. Call us for options, including
monthly and multi-year pledges.
Adopt-A-Project
Footsteps to Health
This six-week series teaches elderly parents, busy families
or young professionals how to plan balanced meals, cook lean,
snack healthy and shop smart. We are currently only funded to
provide this educational format to income-eligible residents,
but the general public is also dealing with health issues and
requesting our information. We would be happy to discuss how your
gift could contribute or underwrite this program.
